There are daily train connections with Athens, Thessaloniki, Larissa, Karditsa and Kalampaka.

So, to and from Trikala the connections are the following:

  • Thessaloniki, 2 routes in 2 hours 40 '
  • Larissa, 4 routes in 56 ' - 1 hour 10
  • Karditsa, 6 routes in 17 ' - 21 '
  • Kalampaka, 6 routes in 14 '

There are more train routes, connecting Trikala with other cities and towns that are on
the railway axis of O.S.E. (the Greek initials for: Organization of Greek Railways).

The bus service of Trikala Prefecture (K.T.E.L) connects Trikala daily with the
cities below. (The bus station is on Larissa – Karditsa ring road, Rizario, telephone number: 24310.73130-3)

There are also daily bus connections with most villages of Trikala Prefecture.

  • through Ioannina – Trikala National Highway (Ε92), if coming from Western Greece, Grevena or Kalampaka,
  • through Larissa – Trikala highway (E92) if coming from Larissa,
  • through Karditsa – Trikala road, if coming from Karditsa,
  • through Arta – Trikala road, if coming from Western Greece and  Arta (a rough journey in  winter months), Mouzaki or Pili.

The traveler can find car rental agencies in the city of Trikala.
